Established in 1973 to assist the Roman Catholic Bishop of Providence and related Diocesan Corporations in their administration of the temporal resources of the Church, the Fiscal Office operates in a multi-corporate environment and is responsible for the day to day activity of some 30 separate internal corporations.
The office provides services and professional expertise to our Parishes, Cemeteries, Agencies, Programs and Schools in areas related to finance, short-term investments, accounting, property and vehicle insurances, deposit and loan programs, perpetual care, endowments, national collections, etc.
The Fiscal Office provides bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, budget monitoring, budget preparation assistance along with centralized payroll services to over 160 offices, programs and agencies.
The Fiscal Office is responsible for the direct coordination, administration, enrollment and billing processes for more than 3,600 Lay Employees and 270 Active/Retired Priests for the following Diocesan sponsored benefit programs, such as: Medical, Retirement, 403(b) Retirement Savings Plans, Priest Vehicle Insurance, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability, Dental, Employee Assistance and Workers’ Compensation Program.
