By Father Bernard A. Healey - The 2024 Olympics in Paris began with a loud bang. Unfortunately, it was a bang against Christianity! In the opulent and overblown opening ceremony, the centerpiece of the many performances was a mockery of our Lord’s Last Supper. It is a sad commentary on our culture that the supposed most creative minds in all of France who produced the spectacle would think mocking Christ’s Last Supper is an acceptable form of entertainment.
By now, you have seen the news that the Holy Father has appointed me the next Archbishop of Boston. Of course, I am grateful to the Holy Father for his confidence in me and for entrusting this ministry to me. I hope that you will all understand that the news of the appointment has left me with very mixed emotions and even a sense of grief to leave this beautiful Diocese of Providence.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has appointed Most Reverend Richard G. Henning, S.T.D., currently the Bishop of Providence, as Archbishop of Boston. The appointment was publicized today in Washington, D.C. by Cardinal Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.
